North West Children's Honour Choir continues.
The choir is largely drawn from school years 5-8. The boys and girls are not auditioned but must obtain a letter of recommendation from their teacher to say they are able to sing in tune and have enough maturity to enjoy and benefit from membership of the choir.

This year they wil! have the opportunity of working with Bob Chilcott and James Lewis.

There will be three full day workshops culminating in a concert shared with an adult choir after the final workshop. This time the host choir will be the Lancaster Singers.
Workshop dates:
6 February and 8 May 2010 at Longsands School, Fulwood, Preston
12 June at Ripley St Thomas School, Lancaster.
Concert on 12 June at Ripley St Thomas School, Lancaster starting 7.30pm.

27 Choral Directing Workshop
Canongate Kirk, The Royal Mile, Edinburgh,
11:00 – 16:30

Complementing rather than competing with Singposium Scotland, which takes place on the same day also in Edinburgh, this workshop will be led by Patrick Russill, RCO Chief Examiner and Head of Choral Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music.

The day is aimed at choral directors of all ages and levels of experience including beginners, whether they work with church or secular choirs, and whether or not they are keyboard players. It will provide new ideas for, and provoke reflection on, conducting technique and interpretation.

A professional standard chamber choir will be present for the afternoon session and there will be opportunities for those who wish to do so to conduct repertoire drawn from the European Sacred Music volume (OUP).

A booking form will be available for downloaded at www.rco.org.uk/download.php or email events@rco.org.uk, tel 05600 767237.

Ladies’ Day with Beth Allen. An upper voices singing day in Fulwood, Preston. Lancashire

Another chance to work with Beth after the very successful day last year. Don’t miss this – she is inspirational!

Haven’t sung in a choir for years? This is the day for you to be reminded of what fun it is. Bring a friend –the day is definitely non-threatening. Learn how to sing better and how to care for your voice. Beth is an accomplished and experienced leader of community choirs as well as currently being Creative Leader for Lancashire’s Sing Up Initiative. There will be plenty of ideas for those who lead choirs too.

Details of venue later.
