Vacancies
29/04/09
The following two vacancies could be filled by one or two people depending upon availability as they are only a few miles apart. Both posts are paid and the level of remuneration is dependent upon experience.

Assistant Choral Director needed from September 2009 for the Skelldale Singers, Ripon's Community Choir, and Boroughbridge Community Choir as I (the current Choral Director) wish to spend some time over the next 12 months with my daughter, husband and new baby in Cheshire. The posts may eventually become permanent as I am planning to move closer to them once our house is sold.

The Skelldale Singers has around 60-70 members, and Boroughbridge Choir has around 30 members. Rehearsals take place in Boroughbridge on Monday evenings 7 - 9pm and Ripon on Tuesday evenings 7.15 - 9.15pm. There are no auditions and many do not read music but all are enthusiastic and lively and enjoy a varied repertoire of music. We occasionally sing an excerpt from a major work , e.g. Hallelujah Chorus but mostly enjoy singing gospel, African music, light classics, popular songs and ballads, folk songs etc. in SAB, SSA (adapted) and occasionally SATB. The choirs are already booked to perform in Ripon Cathedral at Christmas this year.

The Assistant Conductor would initially be required to work with me and take rehearsals when I am not in the area. The Skelldale Singers have a regular accompanist but the Boroughbridge Choir do not, and whilst an ability to accompany on the piano is useful it is not essential as it may be possible to appoint a pianist for this group. For further information please contact Christine Hale at chris_halebl@yahoo.co.uk (please note there is an underscore between "chris" and "halebl")
