Accompanist

London & South East

Organisation: Billericay Choral Society

We are based in Billericay, Essex (a 30 min train journey from Liverpool Street Station).

We are a 40-strong mixed voice choir. We perform 3-4 concerts each year, covering a range of classical contemporary choral works. The choir is non-auditioned, but we aim for high standards. Our recent programmes have included: Mendelssohn's Elijah, Chilcott's Christmas Oratorio, and Rutter's Gloria. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings (7.20pm-9.30pm) during term time at Billericay Methodist Church, a short walk from Billericay station. We perform at various venues in and around Billericay.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled pianist. You should be a good sight reader and be prepared to learn music ahead of rehearsals. Previous experience with amateur choirs is not essential. Score-reading ability is preferred by not essential.

We would expect you to lead sectional rehearsals from the piano from time to time and lead the occasional whole-choir rehearsal.

It is not essential that you also play the organ, but it would open up other options for you at our concerts.

Rehearsal and concert fees to be agreed as appropriate. The successful candidate can start in September or earlier, in our summer term, if available.

Appointment will be made following a trial rehearsal and short interview.
