The Brighton Belles Women's Chorus
The Brighton Belles were formed in 2013 with an aim to creating a social group where women can release their inner Diva and make pots of money for charity. Originally called The Brighton Belles Gay Women's Chorus, the word Gay was dropped when we realised that we were made up of gay, straight, bi and can't-be-bothereds and so it seemed like false advertising. Besides, how would we test for it?! We meet on Mondays at 7-30 in the Chapel of The Royal Sussex County Hospital and sing an eclectic mix of musical styles, mostly popular. Our original MD was offered a job she couldn't refuse and moved away. Our new MD arrived already pregnant and is soon to have a 'Baby Belle' and will be leaving us to pursue motherhood. Subsequently we are looking for help! There are two options and we would love to hear from anyone wishing to fill one of these roles.
Option 1: An accompanist.
We would be looking for some-one to bring their own instrument (keyboard) to accompany our singing and help record rehearsal tracks. The musical arrangement would come from a free sharing source. This person would be paid, but we are still a fledgling choir and the resources are limited. So, some goodwill would be required with a promise of improvement as we grow.
Option 2: Full Musical Director
This is a great opportunity, but again, as yet, low remuneration. We would love to have some-one who wanted to help us grow as a choir and move forward. We are very keen (but occasionally a handful).
In conclusion, as we are a new choir with a lot of passion and with events in our calendar until next year, we would love some-one to guide us and make their mark on us.
