Cambiata NW Boys Singing Workshops 2020

Saturday 18th January 2020

18th January and 8th March 2020

10am - 4pm, The King's School, Cumberland Street, Macclesfield, SK10 0DA

Led by Ian Crawford and Andy Brooke

Cambiata North West (CNW) is a regional singing initiative supported by the Association of British Choral Directors (abcd). The aim of CNW is to help parents, schools and teachers encourage as many boys as possible to keep singing throughout their time at secondary school.

For the past 8 years, CNW have run an annual series of two one-day workshops for boys aged 10-18. Such has been the success of the project that the group have been invited to perform at a range of high profile events, including the BBC Proms. CNW's success has also been instrumental in persuading music publishers, including Oxford University Press, to publish music specifically written and arranged for boys' voices.

We are now actively seeking individual participants, schools/music groups/youth choirs and teachers/leaders to join us for our 2020 workshops. In the past, some participants have been members of dedicated boys-only singing groups, others have been used to SATB/mixed choirs in a range of different styles and some have never sung outside the house. All participants benefitted hugely from taking part in CNW workshops that further help to bolster their developing identity as young men who like to sing.

The project workshops are entirely self-contained; music is shared in advance but no prior preparation is required on either the teacher/leader or the participants' part.

Further information can be found on the information sheet.
