The Oxford University Press Andrew Potter Bursary

abcd is delighted to announce the inauguration of a new bursary to be called 'The Oxford University Press Andrew Potter Bursary'.

Oxford University Press has inaugurated this bursary in memory of Andrew Potter who died in February 2016. Andrew was formerly Director of Music Publishing at OUP and one of the founding members and Trustees of abcd.

The bursary will be awarded each year by abcd to a young conductor between the ages of 18 and 27. It will be used to support the selected conductor attending the abcd Young Conductors' Course, the Pre-Convention Conducting Course and the main abcd Annual Convention. The value of the bursary is £500.

abcd invites applications from eligible conductors for the award of the 2016 bursary.

To be eligible, applicants must be:

1. aged between 18 to 27 at the time of awarding the grant (31st July 2016);
2. a conductor of music who is not yet earning their living from conducting;
3. eligible to attend abcd's Young Conductors' Course, the Pre-Convention Conducting Course and the main abcd annual Convention in Winchester on 25th-28th August 2016; (although the usual age range of the Young Conductors' Course is 18-25, an exception will be made for the bursary holder if they are between 25 and 27 years old)
4. not related to the Trustees or any staff of abcd or represent any other conflict of interest.

The 2016 award will be decided by the Trustees of abcd on 31st July 2016.
