This year's abcd Convention genuinely promises to have something for everyone.
There is a dual thread focus on Interaction with the broader choral world and Women as Choral Leaders. This can be seen across our sessions featuring the genres of pop, gospel, world and multi-faith music, and a panel of both emerging and established female choral figures. The fabulous Riga Cathedral Girls' Choir and Louisiana State University Choirs will enthral audiences in the Gala concert on Saturday evening. Choral tone and improving both youth and adult voices will feature in the programme, as will vibrant sessions on Early Years Music Making with dynamic leaders Len Tyler and Nikhil Dally. All this, combined with invaluable repertoire sessions, conducting masterclasses at Intermediate and Advanced levels, and the hidden world behind the 'face' of choral conducting (arranging, typesetting, engendering healthy choral relationships etc. etc.), makes for a packed weekend of sessions.
The trade exhibition remains a highlight of the convention, featuring publishers on an International scale - where else can you browse such a wide variety of music, get advice from composers, take advantage of free offers and multiple discounts? The very act of networking alone can generate new connections, collaborations, business ideas and personal introductions.
