Association Of British Choral Directors

New Director of Training for ABCD

We are delighted to announce that Amy Bebbington has been appointed Peter Broadbent's successor as Director of Training for the Association of British Choral Directors.

In addition to her years as part of the tutoring team for abcd, she was Artistic Director for our most recent Convention at the University of Winchester. Amy recently spent five years as Choral Director for the Royal College of Music Junior Department Choirs and is a musicianship tutor for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Amy worked on BBC2's The Choir: Sing While You Work, runs choral direction training days for the Military Wives' Choirs' Foundation, and facilitates workshops around the country. Amy is currently Musical Director for Holmbury Choral Society, Dorking Camerata and Nota Bene (Stevens & Bolton Office Choir) and has had choral works published by Shawnee Press (USA) and Banks Music Publications (UK).

"I am delighted to accept the role of Director of Training for abcd, taking over from Peter Broadbent. Peter has established an enviable choral conducting training programme over the last decade and it will be a privilege to continue to build on his success. I look forward to developing abcd's choral training opportunities for musicians at every level. I continue to be inspired by the dedication and professionalism of abcd tutors, and expect to maintain a training provision which sits at the forefront of choral development in the UK."

Amy Bebbington, 12th January 2017

We are also very grateful to Peter Broadbent for everything he has done for abcd, including instigating our now well-established extended training courses, and look forward to continuing to work with him as a tutor on future courses.
