A few places left on conducting masterclass with Amy Bebbington

5th Annual Choral Conducting Masterclass

Dr. Amy Bebbington, abcd Director of Training

Brancepeth Castle, Durham, DH7 8DF

Saturday 22nd June 2019, 10am-4pm

Cost: £80/£70 abcd members (observers £25)

Amy Bebbington will lead an Intermediate level Masterclass for those wanting to take their choral conducting skills to the next level. Repertoire will include an eclectic variety of works by Grieg, Orff, Chilcott, Bullard and Hogan.

Amy has a natural gift for drawing out the greatest potential from students in a very engaging and encouraging manner. Members from her regular choirs and invited guests will combine to form a very competent and friendly choir whose ethos will be to work hard, be supportive and to "sing what they see".

This will be a fantastic opportunity to get a good length of valuable podium time with some really responsive singers and to observe Amy working with other conductors too.

Brancepeth Castle is a truly awe-inspiring place to visit. We will be working in the ballroom during the day, and there will be opportunity to explore the castle and its grounds. Overnight stays are also possible. Do take a look at their website: www.brancepethcastle.org.uk

Additionally, Northern Spirit (Adult Choir of the Year 2014) will perform in the Castle vicinity on the Saturday evening.

Lunch (homemade soup, bread, cheese, salads) and refreshments will be provided. Early booking is essential as numbers will be limited.

To reserve your place, please contact Amy directly on amybebbs@yahoo.co.uk or 07722 144808

Abcd publishes research paper on the impact of COVID 19 on choral activity
abcd has published a research paper on the impact of the COVID 19 virus on choral activity in the UK. The report, prepared by Professor Martin Ashley, an abcd trustee, provides a survey of research into the current thinking about how choirs and conductors might resume rehearsing and performing.

ABCD Choral Leaders' Festival
With great regret we have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s abcd Choral Leaders’ Festival, our 35th Annual Convention, which was to have taken place from 28-30 August at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. The decision was taken in light of the ongoing situation regarding coronavirus, both in the UK and abroad.
