GSB are recruiting a new MD - someone who will work us hard to keep the high singing skills needed for 4 part harmony and who will enjoy developing both the musical and performance side of a cappella singing.
We rehearse on Tuesday nights outside Sevenoaks, Kent in a hall with good links to M25 and M20 and are currently 25 singers strong. In 2015 we sang in National and local competitions, festivals and musical collaborations as well as paid performances at venues including The Camden Roundhouse, The Festival Hall, The Northern College of Music and we won the Choir of the Year award at the Bournemouth Festival of Singing. We work hard and enjoy new challenges. We're looking for a MD with the ears and eyes for performance based singing.
GSB are members of LABBS and experience of barbershop style is desirable but not essential as this is only part of our repertoire and we can arrange suitable training through LABBS and BABS. We also support our MD and singers by arranging our own education days with external specialist coaches. What is important is finding a MD with the skills and knowledge of how good musical direction can shape and stretch a performance and someone happy to work with women who like a plan!
