Just Sing! Community Choir, based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, are looking for a new Musical Director from September 2017.
We are a friendly and very lively mixed ability choir that welcomes members throughout the community who can and cannot read music. We have a membership of 50 with an average of 35 attendees per rehearsal. Rehearsals take place on a Thursday evening, during term times, between 7pm and 9pm.
The choir manages to sing 3 and 4 part harmony with both SAB and SATB arrangements. Previous repertoire spans light classical, jazz, musical theatre and folk song genres. The choir like to be stretched gently for its performances and has a weekly accompanist to help with music learning.
Candidates would ideally be accomplished singers with a food grounding in technical vocal training. They should also be experienced conductors and rehearsal facilitators as the choir is used to an energetic pace of learning. You should be able to effectively model vocal lines during rehearsals and teach all parts by rote as many members learn lines by ear. Candidates will be expected to provide recorded learning tools and all repertoire for each term.
On average the choir has two performances per term.
