P&O Ferries Choir wishes to appoint an assistant conductor, to commence in the autumn of 2017.
The choir, which is conducted by Hilary Campbell and accompanied by Liam Dunachie, won the Gareth Malone TV series Sing While You Work, and has since gone from strength to strength. Recent highlights include performances in New York and France, and at Proms in the Park and Leeds Castle.
The choir, which is c16 strong and performs varied repertoire from pop and music theatre to classical, rehearses roughly twice monthly 5-8pm, on evenings to suit the musicians; the assistant conductor would be expected to take around half of these rehearsals, in addition to some performances.
Candidates will be experienced conductors and vocal trainers, with some keyboard skills, and the ability to teach music in a range of ways. It would be a bonus if the assistant conductor were also an experienced singer and/or pianist, and able to sing with/accompany the choir on occasion.
