We are a Derbyshire chamber choir of around 30 voices and we are looking for a new Musical Director, to begin in January 2018. Our repertoire covers mainly choral and classical music and occasionally jazz or swing items. We sing mainly unaccompanied but sometimes with piano or organ or instrumental ensemble. We seek to challenge ourselves in terms of both content and level of performance. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings during school terms.
The Musical Director will rehearse the choir and conduct our concerts, help to develop our skills, suggest and select suitable repertoire and be responsible for organising the choral and musical elements of concerts.
We seek someone with experience of directing choirs, a wide knowledge of choral music and leadership and team building skills. A DBS Certificate in line with the Church of England Legal Advisory Commission must be held or obtained (Belper singers will pay the cost of this). Remuneration is currently £2300-£2500 per annum depending on experience.
