The Alleyn Singers are seeking a new Director of Music. They are an amateur, mixed adult (SATB), mainly London-based choir composed of about 30 voices. They visit cathedrals and other major churches three to four times a year to lead the services when the regular choir is not singing. Its members are all experienced singers and have recently sung at places such as Winchester, Salisbury, Lincoln, Chichester and Tewkesbury.
In addition to rehearsing and conducting the choir at each venue on the day, the Director will be responsible for leading one rehearsal, in the London area, before each visit, auditioning new members and current members, choosing music in consultation with the venue and liaising with the venue on liturgical matters for the visit, with the assistance of the committee if required. He or she should also be responsible for engaging an organist for visits.
