Chipping Norton Choral Society is seeking an outstanding rehearsal accompanist and assistant conductor . The post is available from November 2018 and earlier if possible and interested candidates will be asked to work with us at a rehearsal during September or October.
CNCS is in its 70th year and is one of the most adventurous and dynamic choral societies in the Cotswold region - trained and conducted by Peter Hunt for twenty years. Anyone is welcome and there are no auditions - the choir’s strongest belief is that everyone can sing and should be given the opportunity. The choir meets every Wednesday during term time from 19.30-21.30 at Chipping Norton School.

The Accompanist and Assistant Conductor role is vital and important, and we will welcome the post holder as a full member of our team.
The Role:
- To accompany weekly, mostly term-time rehearsals - with occasional extra days to prepare for three concerts per year plus the C N Music Festival
- To take sectional rehearsals as required
- To deputise for Conductor at full rehearsals as required and by prior arrangement
- To contribute to planning and choir development through discussion with conductor and committee
- To perform in concerts if required (e.g. Continuo, piano). Separate fee available.
- Annual Fee: £1900
The Person:
Essential
- Outstanding pianist
- Excellent rehearsal accompanying skills, alert to requirements of the conductor and choir
- Confident with vocal leadership and helping singers to learn and become musical
- Clear and effective conductor
- Open-minded and enthusiastic believing everyone has potential to sing well
- Sense of humour
Desirable
- Organist
- Experience as a singer, able to help choir members develop sound skills
- Some experience of choral training
- Confident to conduct the choir in concerts if required
