We invite applications to join us with effect from September 2018. (Our current MD is relocating to Devon). We are a friendly SATB choir of approximately 25 voices which meets weekly on Tuesday 7.45-9.30pm. Further information is available on our website.
The choir has completed its 54th season with a performance including works by Handel, Parry and Leonard Bernstein. We have given concerts which range from small, mostly a cappella evenings of madrigals and part songs, to others including church anthems accompanied by baroque instruments. The choir would like to continue to develop its interest in both unaccompanied and accompanied music from the 16th century to the present day.
We seek a leader who will inspire the choir to work to high standards, and who can direct rehearsals from the piano. The successful applicant, in consultation with the committee, will have the opportunity to select the music for the concerts, generally 3 per year. Fees for rehearsals and concerts are negotiable.
Auditions will be held in early September, at the start of the autumn session.
