VACANCY FOR MUSICAL DIRECTOR - September 2019
We are looking to appoint a new Musical Director from September 2019. The post becomes vacant on the retirement of John Bate, founder of the Choir and Director since its inception.
About us:
- We are a well-established audition only SATB choir with a rehearsal accompanist.
- We perform the classical choral repertoire with and without professional orchestra/soloists.
- We rehearse in Putney and Richmond (alternately) on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.45pm.
- We perform 3 concerts a year in December, March and June in central and SW London venues.
- We fulfil a cathedral residency every year over a weekend in late July.
- We were formed in 1964 and have about 90 members.
- We are a registered charity managed by an elected Committee.
Our expectations of a Musical Director:
- An accomplished choral/orchestral conductor, singer, vocal coach, with cathedral music experience and appropriate language skills
- He/she will have the knowledge and experience to plan challenging and varied programming within existing financial constraints
- He/she will inspire continuous development of voice quality and sound
- He/she will be comfortable working with professional soloists and instrumentalists and have appropriate contacts in the musical world
