ALPHA Choral Courses seeks an ambitious and dynamic choral leader to lead our up-and-coming feeder choir programme (ages 3-6 and 6-10) in Shenzhen, China. This is a listing for a full-time paid position.
This role will ideally run from March 2019, although candidates who are able to start in July or September 2019 will also be considered.
ALPHA is a pioneering youth music organisation, seeking to open the door for young people to explore their musical potential via a range of choral opportunities designed to promote and nurture enjoyment of music making. This is achieved through exposure to a wide range of international choral methodologies and curriculums, delivered in fun and interactive sessions by a team of top-class international tutors.
These opportunities include: On-campus choral rehearsals and after-school choral classes Winter and summer choral courses Weekly rehearsals for the ALPHA Youth Choir (ages 3 - 15) Conductor training
ROLE DESCRIPTION The appointed person will be responsible for the delivery of a Kodaly-based music education programme to local children in Shenzhen, via choral courses and weekly choir rehearsals. This is a 6-month*, full-time post (40 hours per week), that can be extended up to 1 year.
Responsibilities include: Planning and delivering lessons in accordance with the syllabus, for students aged 3-6 and 6-10 within Shenzhen (focus on Kodály method) Programming and conducting performances for ALPHA Youth Choirs Helping to programme and lead ALPHA choral courses Monitoring and recording students' progress, including parent liaison (with help of local staff)
Liaising with ALPHA's UK music director regarding the ongoing development of the curriculum *Applications will also be accepted for candidates wishing to take on the role for a 3 month period, whose experience is particularly suited to this post. SALARY £30,000 - £42,000 p.a. (dependent on experience)
