Musical Director

South

Organisation: Romsey Choral Society

Romsey Choral Society, an adult SATB choir, is widely recognised as one of the best amateur choirs in the South of England. Formed in 1981, it has a membership of around 95 singers, all of whom are auditioned on entry. The choir's repertoire encompasses a wide range of choral works from Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern eras, as well as pieces by contemporary composers, including Bob Chilcott, John Rutter, Will Todd, Eric Whitacre and Howard Goodall.

RCS has a reputation for versatility and high quality performances, being equally comfortable with a capella, smaller-scale repertoire and major choral works requiring professional vocal and instrumental forces. It is also an ambitious and forward-thinking choir, having collaborated in the past with both the BBC Singers and Howard Goodall CBE.

Romsey Choral Society has a vacancy for an experienced Musical Director with effect from September 2019. Details of the post can be found on the Society's website http://romseychoral.weebly.com/md-applications.html
Applications by CV and covering letter should be sent to Sarah Andrews, Chairman (chairman@romseychoral.org.uk) by 9th March 2019. Interviews will take place in mid April in Romsey and shortlisted candidates will be invited to audition with the choir in May 2019. Informal enquiries about the position are welcomed and prospective applicants are invited to hear the choir at one of their regular Tuesday evening rehearsals, subject to prior arrangement.
