Music Director

Scotland

Organisation: Kirkcudbright Choral Society

After 10 years of innovative leadership our MD will be stepping down at the end of 2018/2019 season in April. Founded in 1892 Kirkcudbright Choral Society is a non-auditioning SATB choir whose 65 members cover a wide range of ages and musical or choral experience. We rehearse on Monday evenings (September to April) and produce two annual performances in Kirkcudbright at the end of the year and in Spring.

During his tenure our MD has greatly extended the choir's reputation and repertoire which now includes several scottish premieres and with Dan Forrest's "Jubilate Deo" a UK premiere. Under his baton, our performances have been accompanied by professional ensembles with many musicians returning regularly.

The successful applicant will be a patient, dedicated and resilient musician who has the passion and depth of knowledge required to choose, direct and conduct challenging music, so that we continue to develop and build on the recent achievements of the choir.

The MD will be an ex-officio member of the committee and will start in September.

Rates of payment will be negotiable depending on qualifications and experience and will be in line with Making Music guidelines. If you think you are the right person to take us forward please email a copy of your CV and letter of application to our president, Robin Fergus, by March 15th 2019.
