Association Of British Choral Directors

Musical Director

Organisation: Opus 44 Female voice Choir

Opus 44 is an award winning female voice choir that rehearses in Bingley, West Yorkshire, on Tuesdays in term-time, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We are to lose our current MD Jonathan Gale, at the end of March 2019, due to his relocation.

We are a small group of about 18 singers , singing in up to 8 parts. We can read music but vary in our ability to sight sing so we work hard, as it is important to us to sing a wide range of high quality music from classical to light, that is challenging and enjoyable and in the main from memory and a capella. The hard work is under-pinned by a good sprinkling of humour and fun. We are noted for our performance and quality of sound in prestigious music festivals and in concert, often supporting local charities.

Our ideal candidate as MD would have a knowledge of, or be prepared to familiarise themselves with and source, upper voice repertoire suitable for us. The ability to continue to develop and improve our vocal technique is also important to us.

More information about the choir and the position of MD can be found on our website.
