We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a relevant background in choral singing, performing and conducting to take the choir forward in a way that builds on the choir's background and composition to maintain and broaden its appeal.
Duties and responsibilities :-
- Rehearsing and training the choir.
- Conducting the choir at concerts and other events.
- Advising the Committee on repertoire for future performances.
- Locating and recruiting soloists and other performers for concerts agreeing performing fees within budgets set by the Committee.
- Liaising closely with the choir's Committee.
- Able to motivate a group of differing musical ability.
- Experience of directing a choir of comparable outlook.
- Possession of performing contacts locally and beyond.\n\n
Currently, the Director of Music provides rehearsal piano accompaniment with a rehearsal accompanist coming in for the last two or three rehearsals nearer the concert. This would be open to negotiation.
The Director of Music is an ex-officio member of the Camerata Singers Committee and is paid a retaining fee.
We are looking for the new Director of Music to start from the Spring term beginning January 2020 although a later date could be considered according to circumstance.
