Music Director

London & South East

Organisation: Croydon Bach Choir

Croydon Bach Choir is a classical adult SATB choral society with approximately 70 members. We were established in 1960 and are very proud to be celebrating our diamond anniversary in this, our 2019-2020 season.

After having led us for almost 20 years, our current Music Director will be leaving the area for pastures new at the end of 2019. We are, therefore, seeking a replacement who is able to commence with us in January 2020 and who, we hope, will make a long-term commitment to the Choir.

In recent years we have taken steps to develop the quality and local reputation of the Choir, and it is important that our new Music Director shares our vision and plays a key part in our ambitions for continual improvement.

We rehearse on Wednesday evenings between 8 pm and 10 pm during academic term times at St Matthew's Church, Chichester Road, Croydon CR0 5NQ, and are supported by an excellent rehearsal accompanist. We perform three to four concerts per season and, as part of our outreach programme, also hold one or two "Come and Sing" events. We have no religious affiliations; however, our repertoire, in common with that of most choral societies, includes both sacred and secular works.

Remuneration will be subject to negotiation with the successful candidate.

The deadline for receipt of applications is midnight on Sunday, 20th October 2019. Preliminary interviews will be held during evenings in the week of Monday, 28th October 2019, and shortlisted candidates will be invited to lead a short rehearsal with the Choir at St Matthew's Church on a Wednesday evening during November to be arranged, before a final decision is reached.

A more detailed job description and person specification as well as an application form can be downloaded via the link below, and we invite applications from candidates who meet the prescribed criteria.
