We are a very successful, vibrant & award-winning SATB choir of up to 60 auditioned members of wide age-range celebrating 50 yrs of performing in & around Leigh, Lancs. We give a series of Autumn Concerts of popular music for local charities, and perform a show annually at St Joseph's Hall, Leigh, alternating between G&S and other strong SATB Operettas. We rehearse on a Tuesday evening at Tyldesley Methodist church. There is more information on our website: www.thethreetowns.net Due to the retirement of our long-standing MD, we seek an experienced, enthusiastic person to build upon our successes & achievements.
The suitable candidate will ideally have appropriate qualifications in music, with experience of working with SATB choirs, Stage Directors & of conducting an orchestra. A sense of humour is an added advantage.
In addition, the suitable candidate will be able to: communicate clearly with people of all ages with some/no musical knowledge, conduct rehearsals of a full SATB choir, work with piano accompanist(s), perfect items of all genres of music, conduct concerts in various venues, conduct an orchestra of professional musicians, and work with the Stage Director on all aspects of Show rehearsals.
The ideal candidate will be available for: rehearsals on Tuesday 7.45-10.00pm, Autumn Concerts (max 6) Fir-Sat evenings Oct-Dec, Principals' rehearsals Fri 7.45-10.00pm Jan-May, annual Show auditions (1 evening Oct), extra Show rehearsals from start of May, Dress & Orchestra Rehearsals plus all Show Week (usually 3rd week in May).
The Society is a Charity with limited financial resources. Remuneration would be a point for discussion at interview.
