Following the retirement of our MD New Mill MVC are seeking to appoint a new Musical Director
Scope:
The new MD will oversee all musical aspects of the choir and will collaborate closely with the Management Committee and especially with the Music sub-committee, who evaluate and select music with the objective of introducing more modern and entertaining items whilst retaining our comprehensive, more traditional repertoire.
Entertainment and a varied repertoire are, we believe, key to attracting new audiences and introducing younger members into our choir. We are making progress but need help from a progressive and enthusiastic MD who should have experience in developing choral groups musically and enhancing the entertainment delivered at concerts.
About our Choir:
New Mill MVC is a well established choir of some 60 enthusiastic members based near Holmfirth in West Yorkshire.
The choir is one of the largest in the area and has an active concert programme, often performing with other choirs, musicians and soloists at our concerts.
Every October we host a showpiece concert at Huddersfield Town Hall where we have performed with such eminent guests as Sir Willard White, Alison Balsom, Morriston Orpheus, Julian Lloyd Webber and most recently with The Ukulele band of Great Britain.
Weekly rehearsals are well attended and take place every Tuesday followed by a social gathering at the rehearsal venue which is attended by the majority of members.
