Association Of British Choral Directors

Musical Director

South West

Organisation: Bromley Heath Community Choir

Bromley Heath Community Choir is looking for a new Musical Director from September, when our founding MD moves on. We are a non-auditioned, mixed ability women's community choir that meets monthly to sing a wide range of popular music chosen by choir members. We were established 6 years ago under the leadership of Nicholas Bromilow, and in that time the choir has developed hugely in terms of confidence, ability and numbers. We currently have around 30-35 members each month.

We are now seeking a gifted and enthusiastic MD to lead us through the next stage of our development, to start in September 2020.

We typically meet during the first weekend of each month at the Quakers Road Church Hall in Bromley Heath, on the outskirts of Bristol (BS16) between 1-5pm. There are regular refreshment opportunities in each session. We love to sing, support each other, laugh and eat cake!

We are privileged to sing twice a year at the Bristol SANDS memorial services, as well as having a regular slot at Heathfest (a local community festival) and more recently we have been invited back to Yate Rocks - a local event showcasing choirs from the region. We also love hosting our own charity fundraising concert each December. We have even sung on television with Gareth Malone!

Our main aim is to find the right person for our choir, and therefore fee / terms and conditions are negotiable. Our current MD arranges our music and brings his own keyboard, but we are open to discuss any other ways the MD role could work for this group.

The closing date is 30.03.2020, and interviews / auditions with the choir will take place on 03.05.2020. If you are interested, please do email us, and if you would like to apply, please send a CV and covering letter to
