Musical Director - South Berkshire Singers South Berkshire Singers is a community choir based in Wokingham, Berkshire. We are a long established non-auditioned choir of 60 members who enjoy a friendly relaxed atmosphere and have fun exercising our various talents. We meet weekly for rehearsals on Tuesday evenings and run three main concerts a year. We are seeking a successor to carry on with the development of this dedicated and enthusiastic choir, following the retirement of our Musical Director, Karen Phillips.
The candidate should demonstrate leadership and skills to maintain and develop the substantial experience of the choir to enable us to improve our performance, grow our numbers, and build on singing opportunities. Our current MD, Karen, is willing to explain what is involved informally to anyone seriously interested in the position.
We have developed an exciting and varied musical programme which includes music from classical to jazz, from sacred to secular, from the stage to Classic FM. The MD would work with the choir management committee to develop the programme and to contribute to efforts in fundraising for charities, mainly local but also some national and international.
The position will be vacant in September and we expect to conduct interviews from May 2020. This is a fee earning position which is open to negotiation.
