Musical Director

London & South East

Organisation: Watership Cantabile

Watership Cantabile are a small, mixed-voice choir (about 20 voices), based around Newbury in West Berkshire. We have recently lost our inspirational Musical Director, due to ill health and are now seeking a replacement, ready to re-start our activities as soon as we are able, this year. We are a friendly, fun-loving choir without an audition process, comprising a range of members from sight-readers to those re-starting singing after some years. We like to sing a wide range of music, a capella or keyboard accompanied, sacred and secular, Monteverdi to Freddie Mercury. The choir have a substantial repertoire of music, but are always keen to find something new.

We rehearse weekly in Newbury on a Thursday evening and normally perform at 3-5 concerts each year, all as fundraisers for charity or local causes. We also aspire to an occasional tour, most recently to Yorkshire, where we sang in Wakefield Cathedral and the Bronte church in Haworth.
