Music Director

Organisation: Stratford-upon-Avon Choral Society

Stratford-upon-Avon Choral Society is a well established SATB choir, founded in 1836, with around 80 singers. The Society has not been able to meet in person since March 2020 but has continued some online activities. We hope and plan to meet as normal from September 2021.

We invite applications for the post Music Director. This follows the retirement of Stephen Dodsworth, our Music Director for 31 years. The pandemic makes this a natural break point, and we are seeking a new Music Director who will help re-energise the choir on our return.

The Choir meets in Stratford-upon-Avon for rehearsals on Monday evenings from September through to March with additional rehearsals on the Thursday and Saturday before each concert.

We perform three main concerts each year in November, December and March. For most of these concerts, the Society employs professional soloists and a professional orchestra, who also take part in the final Saturday rehearsal before each concert.

Our repertoire is chosen mainly from the major choral works from the C18th to the present, including some commissioned pieces. We are keen to expand our repertoire further.

As members of Stratford Choral Society we love singing together, we enjoy the challenge of learning music and we do our best to give an excellent performance for our audience.
