Ellesmere Port Ladies Choir, more commonly referred to as Fireflies, are seeing an experienced Musical Director.
Our MD Georgie, who has led us for the past 12 years, is moving onto pastures new so we are currently seeing a successor who will be able to start in January or February 2022.
Fireflies are well-established, non-audition community choir, consisting of approx. 50 members. We sing in four parts (SSAA) and thrive on variety. We sing a range of popular music styles, both accompanied and acapella. Many of our members read music, but not all. We have an extensive back catalogue of songs but we are always willing to try something new.
The choir meets on a Monday evening from 7.30pm - 9.00pm on a Monday evening and we perform at a number of concerts throughout the year. We are often invited to perform at local events such as the Mayor's Charity Ball, Summer and Christmas Fairs and have also sung at weddings.
Our new Musical Director will be expected to:
You must be able to commit to our weekly rehearsal on a Monday evening from 7.30pm until 9.00pm. We rehearse approx. 40 weeks of the year. We also perform in at least 3 concerts per year (current situation allowing) so extra rehearsal time, if necessary.
Salary is negotiable dependent on experience.
