John Read, our current Music Director will be stepping down in the spring of 2016 when the Fairford & District Choral Society will have been in existence for 10 years.
We will then be looking for someone with the right musical qualifications and choral conducting experience who can enthuse a non-audition choir of around 50 adults of all ages.
We sing music mainly in the classical tradition from the 16th century to the present day. Two concerts are given in the spring and autumn of each year in the beautiful setting of Fairford's parish church. Around a dozen rehearsals are held every Wednesday in the United Church, Fairford for each concert and last for two hours with a short break. We have an excellent professional accompanist and hold voice production workshops twice a year with professional coaches.
The society is a registered charity No 118754 and is soundly financed and has an active and supportive committee.
The successful candidate, in addition to preparing the singers, will be responsible for engaging soloists and orchestral and accompanying musicians and will also be responsible for the choice of music.
