Founded in 1772, Middleton Musical Society is claimed to be the oldest choir in the country. Owing to the retirement of our Musical Director, we are seeking a replacement for September 2015. We are a 4 part choir of about 30 voices, of mixed ability. We usually perform four concerts each year ranging from Requiems to lighter works and miscellaneous short pieces. We have a regular accompanist, and engage local soloists when needed. We also perform , occasionally, with a string group or a brass band. We rehearse in a Church hall in Middleton, North Manchester, on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Our last conductor received an Honorarium, but remuneration is negotiable.
