24 October Navigating government guidance for amateur groups (member-only)

A webinar for anyone involved in running amateur music groups who wants to find out more about the latest government guidance to aid their planning. Three national music organisations, abcd, the ISM and Making Music, join forces to lead a panel session exclusively for their members which will cover the guidance for the performing arts, worship, community venues and youth across the four nations.

Staff will give an overview of the current situation and how it relates to amateur groups, members who are returning to rehearsing will share their experiences and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. What are amateur music groups allowed to do? Can choirs still rehearse in community venues? What is allowed in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales? Find out the answers to these and more!

Booking details will be sent out via email to abcd members.

Future webinars

7 November - Harnessing the power of singing and its effect on learning - a discussion between Richard Jeffries and Susan Hollingworth

Richard Jeffries - a choral conductor and music educator from Derbyshire - was awarded a Churchill fellowship in 2019. He travelled to Finland, Canada and the USA last Autumn visiting schools, universities and choral organisations to study the impact of singing on educational development. In this webinar, Sue Hollingworth chats to Richard about his trip, finds out what he learnt and asks how he plans to utilise his experiences.

21 November - Text and Meaning with Nicholas Cleobury

Purcell's birthday and the day before Britten's, is the perfect time to look at the setting of words to music. Arguably the two greatest setters of the English language, they will form the background for Nicholas Cleobury's webinar on using text to widen the palette in singing and dig deeper into meaning and subtext, looking at the music from the text, through the composer's eyes.
