Musical Director

South West

Organisation: Collegium Singers Chamber Choir

Musical Director required for proficient and committed chamber choir, Somerset.

Collegium Singers www.collegiumsingers.co.uk is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic professional musician to work with our auditioned choir of 24-28 able amateur singers based in the Taunton area.

The right candidate will preferably be a singer themselves, with experience of working with choral groups and a diverse repertoire, and the ability to share expertise, demonstrate technique and maintain good ensemble together with sufficient keyboard skills to assist in rehearsals as required.

The choir is a registered charity and performs repertoire from a wide range of genres, from mediaeval to the present-day, with experience in Renaissance and Baroque. It employs professional instrumentalists when appropriate for performances. Eight weekly rehearsals (currently Monday evenings) are usually held prior to each of three or four annual concerts, which are generally held in a variety of venues in the area.

Remuneration for these services will be in the order of £4-5,000 pa for the successful candidate (negotiable dependent on the number of events and associated rehearsal requirements). We would hope to form a long term working relationship.

The closing date for applications is 15th February 2017, with interviews on 2nd March and auditions on 20th and 27th March.

The post is available from April 2017, although a start date in September 2017 would be acceptable.
