Musical Director

London & South East

Organisation: Waltham Forest Community Choir

Waltham Forest Community Choir is looking for a new Musical Director from September 2018 as its founder and current leader is moving away.

Waltham Forest Community Choir was established in 2010. Since then it has grown from 12 members to around 40 - 60 members regularly attending rehearsals on Monday evenings in term time in Central Walthamstow. It is open to all adults living or working in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. We are open and inclusive to everyone who wants to learn to sing.

Rehearsals take place in St. Mary's Church, Walthamstow E17, on Monday evenings during term times. We are supported by a pianist who also acts as assistant. We have a committee that supports the MD in organizing events and with the day-to-day running of the choir. We have a budget for professional fees, which are to be discussed and agreed with the committee.

The choir stages its own events as well as regularly performing at local festivals such as the Chingford Fayre and The Stow Festival. It has an extensive Christmas performance schedule and has just commenced an outreach programme.  The choir has performed a wide range of musical styles including Vivaldi’s Gloria for its 5th Anniversary Concert and Faure’s Requiem, songs from musicals and as part of its current outreach programme songs from the 1950s and 1960s.
