Bass Choral Scholarship

London & South East

Organisation: Chiswick Choir

Chiswick Choir, a choral society of around 90 auditioned singers drawn from the London area, is offering a bass choral scholarship worth £750/annum.

The scholarship is open to singers aged 18-30, or students in full or part time music education. It is ideal for aspiring professional singers wishing to develop their choral singing and sight-reading, or in preparation for university choral scholarships, and as a means of broadening repertoire knowledge. There will be occasional solo/quartet/semi-chorus opportunities, and also a chance for the scholar to receive coaching from the choir's Musical Director.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evenings 8 - 10pm in term time at St Michael's Church Centre, Elmwood Road W4 3DZ, in addition to around three performances a year. It is expected that choral scholars will take an active role with social media for the ensemble and generally support the endeavours of Chiswick Choir.

The choir is directed by Hilary Campbell, a freelance choral specialist who is also founder and director of professional chamber choir Blossom Street, and Musical Director of Bristol Choral Society, the Music Makers of London and Chiswick Choir. Her guest work includes ensembles such as the BBC Symphony Chorus, BBC Radio 4's Daily Service Singers, the New London Singers and the Amici Chamber Choir.
