Musical Director

South West

Organisation: Redland Green Choir

The Redland Green Choir is seeking to appoint a Musical Director from September 2020.

We are looking for a dynamic and inspiring choral conductor with excellent communication skills, a sense of fun and a clear directing style.

The opportunity arises because our previous Music Director is taking up a Masters course in conducting in the States.

The Redland Green Choir is a friendly, non-auditioned choir based in Bristol. There are currently about 80 members with a range of levels of musical ability and experience. There is also a Chamber Choir (about 12 members). Our repertoire is predominantly classical. We give two major concerts a year, each featuring a major choral work. We also give occasional less formal performances at local community events.

The choir works with a professional accompanist for rehearsals. We rehearse on Monday evenings from 6.30 to 9.30pm at Redland Green School (one hour for the Chamber Choir, two hours for the main choir).

The position attracts a competitive hourly remuneration, dependent upon experience (approximately 130 hours per annum). The closing date for applications is 30th June, with interviews and audition anticipated in September (but this will depend on the situation relating to the Coronavirus pandemic).

Further information, including details of the Musical Director's role, essential and desirable qualifications, and previous repertoire, please email secretary@redlandgreenchoir.org.uk.

If you would like to speak to someone about this opportunity, please contact our Secretary, Kate Hughes (secretary@redlandgreenchoir.org.uk) or our outgoing Musical Director, Nick Bromilow (n.bromilow@hotmail.co.uk).
