MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Daventry Choral Society is seeking to appoint a new Musical Director from September 2021, following the departure of our MD who had been with us for ten years. The closing date for applications is 7th June 2021.
The 80-strong SATB choir with experienced and novice members is committed and forward-looking. Rehearsals are normally held on Tuesday evenings leading to at least three performances per year. For the past year we have been holding digital rehearsals via Zoom.
In 2019 we performed the Mozart Requiem and Handel's Messiah. We also had a successful tour of Tuscany performing concerts in Pistoia, Lucca and Florence. We hosted a 'Come and Sing' based on Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
The Musical Director is expected to direct rehearsals, teach choral techniques, conduct choir and orchestra at concerts and suggest soloists; to work with the team of volunteers who manage the Society, to suggest repertoire and promote the development of the choir.
Remuneration is negotiable, commensurate with ISM.
Auditions in person will involve rehearsing the choir in two works, one familiar to most of the choir and one that is new.
The appointment of the MD will be subject to satisfactory references.
