Musical Director

South West

Organisation: Parnham Voices

Parnham Voices is an a cappella choir founded in 2001. The 20 strong choir is based in Beaminster, West Dorset but draws membership from the surrounding area. We aspire to high standards of performance and will tackle challenging music. We have good reviews and a loyal following. Our repertoire is varied; both sacred and secular, covering six centuries. We sing in various formations from four parts to eight parts.

We rehearse weekly in Beaminster on Monday evenings from 7.30 - 9.30pm from January to April/May and from September to the beginning of December, performing seven to eight concerts each year in the West Country.

Covid has restricted our rehearsal opportunities but, when the rule of six pertained. we managed to form three sextets and sing in three different locations out of doors on a weekly basis. We are looking forward to restarting when the temperature rises a little.

As Musical Director, you would be expected to rehearse the choir weekly, conduct the concerts work closely with the committee and attend their meetings as an ex officio member. You should also have a good understanding of vocal production, an ability to coach and a clear vision for the future of the choir.

The post will become vacant from September 2021 and the closing date for applications is Monday 5th July 2021.

Auditions will be held when we have reformed as a choir and Covid regulations allow.

You are invited to submit your CV, with a covering letter staring your interests in the field of a cappella music and your experience of conducting this type of music.

Applications or any queries should be emailed to Sheila Furse, Choir Secretary at saffas73@btinternet.com
