Accompanist

North West

Organisation: Warrington Male Voice Choir

Warrington Male Voice Choir is seeking an experienced accompanist, following our last accompanist leaving the area. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the Musical Director. Experience is essential, both as a rehearsal accompanist and concert accompanist. Whilst we take our rehearsal learning seriously, we have fun and laughter along the way.

We rehearse on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Alford Hall Sports and Social Club, in Warrington.

The choir was formed in 1898, and we pride ourselves in being a community focused charity. We currently have a membership of around 38 but are in the middle of a recruitment drive, having successfully recruited 7 new choristers within the last 8 weeks. Our singers are of mixed abilities and a current age range of 34 to 95. We perform a varied choral repertoire including sacred music, modern classics and songs from the musicals.

The choir aims to have at least one concert per month, but this is variable. Our biggest concert every year is our Christmas Concert at the Parr Hall in Warrington, where we perform to an audience in excess of 800. We have won many competitions over the years, the most recent one being the North Wales Choral Festival in November 2019. We also enjoy going on tour, and over the years have visited countries such as Canada, Ireland, Isle of Man, Belgium and the Netherlands. We will be planning a tour post COVID, as soon as we feel it is safe to do so for our members.

To apply for this position, please email your CV to Choir Secretary, Amanda Davies at secretarywmvc@hotmail.co.uk or post to Amanda Davies, Warrington Male Voice Choir, 28 Elaine Street, Warrington, WA1 3PX. Interviews / audition rehearsals will be early 2022.
