Music Director

Midlands

Organisation: Loughborough Male Voice Choir

Loughborough MVC is recruiting a new Music Director, to start in September 2024.

The Loughborough Male Voice Choir is a well-established forward-looking choir with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere providing an inclusive, accessible opportunity for men of all ages who wish to sing and would like to develop their skills and abilities in a friendly, relaxed, informal environment, enriching their lives and that of the local and wider community.

The Choir is now recruiting a Music Director to take over from Chris Hill, who is stepping down from the post after 17 years to resume singing with the tenors. We are a non-auditioned choir of 50+ voices, and have been singing in Loughborough for over 50 years. We meet weekly throughout the year for 2 hours on Thursday evenings in Loughborough town centre, with a short summer break.

Each year, we organise and promote three or four of our own concerts in addition to accepting a number of invitations to other concerts and musical events across the calendar. In recent years we have toured, both in the UK and abroad. Although we have sung in competition in our past, we are essentially a concert choir.

We are keen to continue with and develop our current varied repertoire, ranging from traditional male voice music, sacred and secular music to more contemporary pieces. Our main focus is enjoying singing together in rehearsal and in concert, while always looking to improve our standards and striving to be the best we can.

We are looking for someone with the appropriate experience, enthusiasm, and energy to lead this friendly group of singers. We have an accompanist, and a small Music Team, which the post-holder would lead. For further information, including a description of the role and responsibilities, please contact the Choir's current chairman, Norman Hockley at info@loughboroughmvc.co.uk. He is also available for an informal chat about the Choir and the role on 07889 009928. To apply, please email your CV and a covering letter, setting out how you meet the requirements of the role, to Norman by Friday 15 March 2024.

We look forward to hearing from you.
