Music Director

London & South East

Organisation: Wimbledon Choral

After 15 highly successful years, Neil Ferris is standing down as Music Director of Wimbledon Choral in June 2024. It has been, and remains, a very fruitful and happy relationship for both parties but he is moving on to create some space for the next page in his career. We are, therefore, looking for a new Music Director to lead our friendly and successful choir, to take us into fresh music realms, encourage continuing development of our vocal quality and to bring us to new heights of performance, including commissions and recordings. As a choir we are ambitious, well organised and we like strong, stable foundations.

Wimbledon Choral is an auditioned amateur choir with over 180 members based in south-west London. We perform in major venues in and around London, from the Cadogan Hall to Southwark Cathedral, from the Royal Festival Hall to the Royal Albert Hall, and in more local venues in Wimbledon & Southfields. Overseas tours in recent years have included to Rome and Tallinn.

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings in central Wimbledon between 7.30-9.45pm (with excellent rail, Tube and bus connections) and our rehearsal & performance season runs from September to June.

Please visit www.wimbledon-choral.org.uk/newmd to download a pack containing further information about the choir, together with details of the recruitment and appointment process, and a description of the qualities that we will be looking for in our new Music Director.

Applications close on 29th February 2024 and we expect to make a decision by July 2024.
