Award-winning members

Two abcd members have received specially commended prizes for their work with their choirs: Mavis Fletcher (Lancaster Singers) and Jean Stanley-Jones (Cantorion Sirenian Singers). The Lady Hilary Groves Award is presented to a Making Music member nominated by their group for their outstanding contribution to music in the community. As the nominations this year were of exceptional quality, 3 special commendations were awarded in addition to the winner, Andrea Encinas of British Gospel Arts Consortium Ltd.

Chris Hutchings has won Chigwell Choir Young Composers' Competition. Next Morning was premiered on 15th November by Chigwell Choir in their concert 100 Years of Poppies, conducted by Alexander Campkin. Click here for Chris's website.

Corporate Member DCINY's founder and Music Director Jonathan Griffith has been awarded The American Prize in Conducting, in the professional orchestra division. The American Prize is a series of non-profit competitions designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, ensembles and composers in the United States. It looks to recognize the breadth and quality of excellent music making across the country.

Joy Hill has been appointed as the new IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music) representative on the World Youth Choir Artistic Committee.

Congratulations to all!

We've updated our COVID-19 guidance for choral leaders
We've updated our detailed guidance for choirs and conductors to reflect the latest government guidelines for England. Our practical guide and risk assessment guidance are available to everyone.

Revised guidelines released for Performing Arts
The Government's Performing Arts guidance was updated last night. We are reading it carefully and will post an update later, however it confirms that amateur choirs and groups can continue in England, as previously advised in the government's Coronavirus FAQs, despite confusion earlier in the week.

New government guidance
The governments general social guidelines for England were updated late last night, 22 September. We hope that the performing arts guidelines will be updated soon to reflect these and will be asking for any clarity that's needed as a result.

New government restrictions
Not surprisingly, we're already getting queries about what the government announcement today means for amateur performance and we realise choirs will be anxious to know as soon as possible. Once the new arrangements have been published we will, as ever, be reading carefully and will endeavour to get any clarifications that are needed in conjunction with colleagues. We'll post here and on social media as soon as we can.
