The National Youth Choir is launching a one-year bespoke training programme for two young musicians from backgrounds that are under-represented in choral music. Participants will gain skills and experience in choral conducting, learn with and be mentored by top conductors and educators, get hands-on experience working with the National Youth Choirs in a range of musical styles, and be supported building a career as a choral leader. Applicants may or may not have conducting or leadership experience; the programme will be built uniquely around each individual and their experience, interests and aspirations.
NYC would like to hear from anyone who has lived experience of barriers to choral music, and in 2024 is particularly looking to work with young people from Black, Asian and other global majority backgrounds. Candidates should be aged 20 to 29, based in the UK, and not in full-time education during the programme. The programme is fully funded, and all expenses will be paid. There may also be opportunities to engage in paid work through the programme.
Deadline for applications: Monday 22nd January at 12 noon
