The Government has announced its intention to end all Covid-19 restrictions on 19 July, though this date will not be confirmed until 12 July.
We're delighted that today the Secretary of State announced on social media that all restrictions on choirs will be removed at Step 4. We'll be keeping a close eye on details and continuing to support & encourage choirs & their leaders as they make the long awaited return to singing.
All venues and businesses seem set to reopen, with the one-metre plus social distancing rule also to be scrapped. Live music restrictions will be eased and there will no longer be legal limits on audience numbers indoors or outdoors.
This is all good news for the music industry, and great for choral music in particular. However, Performing Arts Guidance has yet to be published and we will be looking closely at that.
Announcements about the lifting of restrictions are expected from the governments of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales within the next week.
